Goldcar is working with UNHCR to help refugees in the Mediterranean

Goldcar, market-leader in holiday vehicle rental company, joins the Spanish Committee of UNHCR's project to help those displaced by the Syrian conflict. This time we start in June with the micro-donations campaign to raise funds through our e-commerce platform, so that customers who make a booking via the Goldcar website can make a donation at the end of the process.

The initiative also involves the direct engagement of Goldcar, who will donate an equal amount for each micro-donation made by each user during the campaign. Thus, the company expects to achieve a minimum annual donation of over €13,000. The agreement between Goldcar and the Spanish Committee of UNHCR has a vocation of continuity and the goal is to extend its duration as necessary in order to raise the maximum amount of funds to help in the search for solutions to improve the living conditions and the future of refugees in the Mediterranean.

Goldcar offers users the ability to perform two types of donations, which correspond to a particular aid for the distribution of basic supplies on the ground: 2€ for a daily dose of water for 6 refugees; and 4€ for nappies for a baby for 1 month.

Says Juan Carlos Azcona, CEO of Goldcar, "we are proud to be part of a joint initiative of the Spanish Committee of UNHCR, whose work in this humanitarian emergency is commendable. Our commitment in collaborating with a donation from Goldcar makes us feel particularly involved in the matter. If our contribution can help improve the already difficult living conditions of refugees, undoubtedly it will have been worthwhile. "

As explained Fernando Sevillano, Head of Strategic Alliances for the Spanish Committee of UNHCR, "the Spanish Committee for UNHCR is proud to close such agreements with companies operating in Spain and beyond our borders. This collaboration reconfirms the commitment of the Spanish business sector to humanitarian causes that occur outside our country. Sensitivity to customer demands and solidarity with such emergencies allows companies to promote a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility action."
