Discover Mallorca on two wheels

Mallorca is one of the best destinations for cycling, especially in the spring. Thousands of kilometres to discover between its wonderful coves, the Sierra de Tramontana and its emblematic villages.

Goldcar, the market leader in the holiday car hire market, and official sponsor of Mallorca 312, the international cycling tour taking place on Saturday 29th April, suggest a couple of routes to discover on two wheels some of the places that definitely deserve to be visited to fully enjoy this island in the Mediterranean.

Route through the interior of Mallorca

When thinking about an island the first thing that seduces the traveller's mind is the idea of sun and beach. The interior of Mallorca is one of the areas most ignored by tourist guides and visitors, but the with its geography it’s surprising as it has beautiful places that give you the chance to relax and that offer the possibility get to know the real Mallorca, away from the tourist spots. Some of the villages through which you can travel in a few days are Santa Margalida, Ariuny, Petra, Sencelles, Montiuri, San Joan and Pina. Along the way, cycling enthusiasts can enjoy their own routes from the middle of the island, with its villages, wineries and streets that have been transformed in previous times. To regain your strength, there is nothing better than a stop at the Ses Torres restaurant which is famous for its quality amongst its regular diners.

Route of the south island coves

Coming back to the coast, Mallorca offers cycling enthusiasts a large number of small coves that are away from the large and crowded beaches, where you can enjoy beautiful views that are normally difficult to access. Although it is possible to add even more stops to the route and to cover the island completely along the coast, it is advisable not to miss Varques, one of the most pristine coves in the area, Mondrago, together with its natural park, and Llombards, All to the south of the island. These hidden small paradises offer turquoise waters, a place where time is well spent visiting, and although it takes desire, time and perhaps an extra stop along the way, this cycle route will be engraved in the mind like the very best images of Mallorca.

In addition, without getting too far off the track on this route, you can find places where you can taste the best fish and fresh seasonal meat in El Castillo del Bosque or eat overlooking the port of La Marina in the restaurant Port Petit in Cala D ' Or.
