Who is Alex Palou?

Goldcar is committed to motorsports and does it in the hands of team Campos Racing and young driver Alex Palou. A talent behind the wheel who is facing this season with ambition and the aim of achieving his best results in each of the races to be held in GP3.

The fondness of the world for speed and circuits attracted Alex Palou (San Antoni de Vilamajor- April 1, 1997) when he was little. A passion for the world of four wheels that led him to take the plunge at just 5 years old and with a second-hand kart gifted to him by his family.

That was when he first started to get noticed.

Since then, the life of the young driver has not been away from the asphalt, not the tough training regimes to get fit and gain a foothold in the competitive world of motor racing, firstly in karting where he won his first titles.

At just 8 years old he was Spain alevín karting champion in 2005. And that same season he won the Champions Cup in the cadet category against opponents much older than him, a fact made even more evident that with the passage of time with the name of Palou very much still around.

As such he has torn a path to success since he was 9 years old that has led him to compete internationally. Mainly thanks to the hours of effort invested that turned into prizes, namely four championships in Spain, WSK Euroseries Champion and also the Championship of Europe runner-up, among many other achievements.

The level of demand was rising and Alex moved to live in the Sant Cugat CAR supported by a scholarship that allowed him at 14 years old to be working under the guidance of great professionals in the high performance centre.

New challenges with Campos Racing

The hard work continued to bear fruit and in 2001 he received a scholarship from the Bank of Santander for promising youngsters in Motorsport. This moved him forward and opened new opportunities such as the possibility of a test in Fiorano (Italy), home of the Ferrari Drivers Academy, and to fulfil one of his dreams: to get behind the wheel of the Italian team’s single-seater car.

That same year he crossed paths with Campos Racing and the possibility of driving a Dallara F312 for the Valencia team. The first road to an alliance that led in 2014 to Palou to compete in the EuroFormula Open and begin a promising career that we will enjoy the most exciting competitions in GP3 with him in 2016.
